Here is what we did for a pinata when the kids were little. Those things are kind of expensive so we made our own. Now, I had delusions of paper mache over a balloon and all sorts of craftiness. What my kids loved, however, was decorating a paper bag - a plain old grocery bag. That got out paint and markers and stickers and went to town!!! We rigged up the bag with a string (it almost always fell apart before being beaten apart) and away they went. The guests thought it was great that the kids made their OWN PINATA. And, the big fuss is about the fun stuff inside more than the pinata itself.
ElisaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3909848007017525728.post-74879915692722553692008-06-12T20:13:00.000-07:002008-06-12T20:13:00.000-07:00Sounds like a fun party! We had Adeline's 3rd birthday in Rock Creek Park and similarly didn't plan too many things to do knowing that 3-year-olds mostly just want to run around. We bought some giant coloring books, markers, and crayons for a coloring station and also brought lots of bubbles, balls, and some hula hoops. The kids moved between activities as they wanted, and everyone had a really nice time. I love the idea of decorating a flower pot and planting seeds - the kids will love that!

Every party I went to as a kid had a favor bag (usually stickers, little notebooks, candy, etc.), so maybe it's a regional thing.Hollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03674163216859745816noreply@blogger.com
